Donald Rudolph Maurer passed away on August 24, 2020 at the age of 87 in the home of his daughter (Donna Morales) while under the care of home hospice.
He was known to many as “Donny”, “Duck”, “Don” “Dandy Don”, “Dad”, and “Pop-pop”. He was born in Philadelphia and resided in Croydon and Bensalem for most of his life. He spent 3 years in the Armed Services, spending most of that time in Germany. He was married to the late Regina (Jeanne) Killian, with whom he had four daughters. His second marriage was with the late Patricia (Pat) Shipley, with whom he had a stepson and stepdaughter.
He worked at 3M Company for most of his career as head of the IT department. After retiring from 3M Company, he continued doing computer work as a consultant and part time employee at Superior Computer Systems and then CMI/Compas, where he worked with one of his daughters (Diane Reale).
Don’s favorite pastimes were fishing, reading books, watching the Eagles, and playing the slot machines. He was always hoping for the biggest fish or the biggest win.
He is survived by his four daughters, Jeanine Mallon and husband Nelson, Kate Stout and husband Richard, Diane Reale and husband Anthony, Donna Morales and husband Hector; his two stepchildren, (Mary Oleksiak and husband Harry, Charles Shipley and wife Lola; 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Norman and wife, Gisela.
