Eric Samuel Ward, 68, of Landenberg, Pennsylvania, passed away on April 10, 2026.
Eric grew up in Chichester, Pennsylvania, where he still holds the pole vaulting record. He later made his home in Landenberg, devoting much of his life to his family, his work, and his community.
Eric was a skilled general contractor who took great pride not only in his craftsmanship and imagination, but also in helping others succeed. He was known for encouraging those around him to start their own businesses and for giving opportunities to individuals who might not otherwise have been given a chance. Among his many proud accomplishments were building and renovating his three family homes and creating what he fondly called “the Great Wall of Landenberg.”
Outside of work, Eric found joy in snow and water skiing, gardening, fishing, hunting, and simply being outdoors. He loved dancing with his wife, Linda, and lived life to the fullest, always “dancing on the keys of life.” He had a unique ability to create fun out of nothing by building luge rides, zip lines, rope bridges, and water slides into the creek. He loved ice skating and playing hockey with his kids and their friends. He also started family sledding trips down the mountain, as well as ice skating and playing hockey on the pond and creek. Eric was always willing to lend a hand or offer guidance to those facing personal or professional challenges. His generosity and willingness to support others left a lasting impact on many lives. He never backed down from a challenge and simply did not believe in the word “can’t.”
Above all, Eric was deeply devoted to his family. He was incredibly proud of his three children and five grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with them.
Eric will be remembered for his big heart, his endless energy, and his ability to make life an adventure. The world feels a little quieter without him, but his spirit will live on in every laugh, every project, and every moment of joy he inspired.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Linda; his children: Daniel Ward (Dora, Alexander, Andrew, Austen), David Ward (Crystal, Calvin, Genevieve), and Erica Ward (Chris Rinschler, Buddy, and Baylee). He is also survived by his siblings, Mary Foderaro (Tony), Marc Ward (Sherri), and Michelle Hagel (John), along with many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Donald and Blanche Ward, and his sister, Cheryl Ganster (Bill).
In lieu of flowers, please donate blood or platelets in Eric's honor. Services will be private.
