Obituary

Harry B. Baczkowski, Jr, age 75, of Newark, DE, went to be with his Lord on October 27, 2022, with his wife, Linda, by his side. He was a loving son to the late Harry and Frances Baczkowski and brother to the late Barb Criscuolo of Elkton, MD.
He is survived by his wife, Linda, his daughter Stacy (Clarence), his grand-children, Morgan (Chris) Cook, Ryan Hall, their father, John R. Hall, III, great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Layla, Saige and Christopher Cook, his brothers, Bill (Tina), Tom (Diane) and Joe (Carole), his Godchildren, and several nieces and nephews who were dearly loved.
Harry loved spending time with his family, especially going to Delaware Park with his late mother and sister, and giving his great-grandchildren rides in his electric wheelchair. On nice days, you could catch him riding around with his great grand-daughters in tow. It was something that they loved to do together.
Harry loved his sports teams, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers Pirates and Penguins. He used to attend baseball games with his wife and daughter whenever he got the chance and the Pirates were playing the Phillies. He was the Athletic Director at Padua for many years, and coached field hockey, softball and basketball. He was the coach when Padua won back-to-back state basketball championships in 1980 & 1981.
Harry taught Theology at Padua Academy High School for 38 years. Teaching was his passion, and he was incredibly good at it. Everyone who met him loved him for his sense of humor and his kind and beautiful soul. He was a genuinely good person who always saw and celebrated the good in others. He always pushed educating yourself, being strong, being a leader, and being kind to others. Harry was very supportive of female empowerment and shared that with his students. He truly believed that if you set your mind to a goal, you could achieve it, and he continually encouraged his students to reach for the stars. He never forgot a student that he taught, and he loved all of his “Padua girls”.
Harry used to be part of a guitar group that sang during mass at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Elkton, MD. This is also where Harry and Linda were married and the parish that he and his family grew up in. Service for Harry will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on November 10, 2022 at 10:00 am. A Celebration of his life will be held afterwards at the Elkton VFW, 208 W High St.
