It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, Larona Walls, who departed this life on June 22, 2025.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Walls; her dear son, John Gentry IV; her cherished parents, Jamus Griffin, Sr. and Constance Griffin; and her brother, Jamus Griffin, Jr.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and family. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Lorri Smith (Frederick Smith, Jr.) and Terri Gentry; her treasured grandchildren, Amber Gentry, Carrie Zaneski, Frederick Smith III, Breanna Smith, Felicia Mosley, Verdine White, Jr. and Alon White; and her great-grandchildren, Malia, Amya, Melody, and Kane, all of whom she loved dearly and held close to her heart.
She is also survived by her siblings, Michael Griffin (Shirley), Thomas Griffin (Janet), Rick Griffin, and Tami Shahadi (Andrew); and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
She had a deep love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and cherished the connections she had with her siblings and extended family. Her memory will live on through the lives she touched and the legacy she leaves behind. Though we mourn her passing, we are grateful for the time we shared and the memories we carry forward.
A celebration of her life will be announced at a later time when we have her arrangements for her memorial service finalized.
