Mary Alice Noell Lach “Marcie” passed away September 15, 2023.
Born March 3, 1934, in Philadelphia, PA, Mary grew up in Salem, New Jersey, and settled in Claymont, Delaware for 60 years.
Mary graduated from Salem High School in 1951 and Hood College in 1955 with a bachelor’s of science degree. She worked as a buyer for Strawbridge & Clothier for seven years before marrying and starting her family. After having three children she continued her education and started another career as a registered dietician at several hospitals and retirement communities.
Mary enjoyed outdoor activities hiking, fishing, camping, travel, and cooking in her younger days. She was a loving wife and mother and always put her family first. She was especially close to her siblings and loved keeping up with family.
Survivors include her three children, William J. Noell, III, Laurel Noell Crossley (John), Lily Noell Beggs; four grandchildren, Brittany Rachel Beggs, Jeffrey Beggs, Larissa Mae Crossley, Mackenzie Renae Crossley; brother-in-law, Harvey Beal, Jr.; sister-in-law, Frances Noell Schmidt; and numerous loved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by beloved husbands, William J. Noell and Frederick Lach, her parents, John Wesley Raine, Jr., and Phyllis Rachel Reed Raine; two sisters, Virginia Beal, and Phyllis Marks and her husband, Walter.
A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be planned for March 3, 2024, which would have been her 90th birthday. Details will be shared at a future date.
