Michael A. Burkey Obituary

Michael "Mike" A. Burkey, Sr., 57 years old, of Wilmington, DE passed away suddenly on October 14, 2024 at St. Francis Hospital, with his family by his side.

Born June 17, 1967 in Coatesville, PA, he was the son of Shirley R. Brubaker and the late Richard A. Smith.

Mike worked most of his life as a self-employed mechanic. He enjoyed cars and watching wrestling, He was also a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. Mike enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Mike had a huge heart and was friends with everyone. He was always there to lend out a helping hand.

Mike is survived by his mother, Shirley; his sisters, Shelley and Karen; his brothers, Chet, Randy and Mike; 3 children, daughters, Alicia Caldwell (Jeffrey), Ashley Burkey;son, Michael A. Burkey Jr.(Cheyenne); 5 nephews and 2 grandchildren.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, the late Richard A. Smith.

Services are scheduled for Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 1pm. They will be held at Principio United Methodist Church (1511 Principio Station Road, Perryville, MD 21903). Pastor Michael A. Caldwell will officiate.
