February 16, 1967 - February 17, 2022
On Thursday, February 17, 2022 Norman passed unexpectedly at home. He will be dearly missed by so many that knew and loved him. Norman lived in Darby until the age of eleven when the family moved to Cobblestone Lane in Aston. He was a 1985 graduate of Sun Valley High School. At the age of 16, Norm began working at the Aston Burger King. That high school job was the first step of many in what would become a 36-year career in management with the Summerwood organization. Anyone that ever went through the Burger King drive-thru in Aston or Lima was sure to see his smiling face. Wanting to keep working during the pandemic, Norm spent the last two years working for the Amazon Fulfillment Center in Delaware.
Norman is predeceased by his loving parents, Patricia M. Powell Loftus (née Mealy), Norman C. Powell, Jr., and stepfather J. Douglas Loftus. He is survived by his sister, Patrice Powell Kelly (Kevin) and brother, Doug Loftus. Norm is also survived by his nephew and niece, Logan and Ava Kelly, whom he adored.
Norm was a special person. He had a kind soul, a warm heart and an unforgettable (and sometimes mischievous) smile. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and funny facial expressions. Above all, he loved his family and his family loved and cherished Norm. Norman held a very important family position; carving the Thanksgiving turkey. Thanksgiving will never be the same without him. Somebody in his family will need to learn to carve a turkey and they will have big shoes to fill!
The family will host a Celebration of Norman’s Life with a Memorial Luncheon at Duffer’s Mill, 1600 Naamans Creek Road, Garnet Valley, PA at Noon on Friday, March 25, 2022.
