Omar Borla, age 73, of Newark, Delaware passed away Thursday, July 13, 2023 of liver cancer.
Born and raised in Argentina, Omar earned his Bachelor's Degree in Economics at the Universidad del Sur. Omar earned his Masters Degree in economics from the University of Delaware and became a naturalized citizen in the nineties.
His Argentine activities included playing rugby and being the singer in a rock and roll band. He always loved to read and had an uncanny facility to remember titles and authors, not only books but music as well. He played piano and guitar and had absolute pitch. In the USA he worked as an economist in New York as well as an economic researcher and analyst for the University of Delaware and other organizations.
He is survived by his two ex-wives Gloria and Cristina, his son Juan, daughter in law Amy, and two grandsons, Jolyon and Benjamin.
Omar requested that no funeral service be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Prevent Cancer Foundation at https://preventcancer.org.
